US political leaders tell us that if we don’t support their stimulus package, the US will be completely destroyed. Financial institutions will crumble, leading to the fall of our political institutions. There will be anarchy and chaos.
Consider this: According to The Consumerist, Politico asked members of the Senate whether they have ever had mistakes on their tax returns or filed back taxes. Of the 56 senators that responded to the survey, ten reported errors on their tax returns, six have paid back taxes, and two of the senators reported errors. Therefore, 32% have had tax related problems. These are the same people handling our tax money. As Tom Coburn puts it, “This is the government in charge of “stimulating” our economy.”
As I have said before, even if this stimulus package would work, it is guaranteed to fail because of government corruption. Senator Schumer even blatantly lies, saying that the American people don’t care about pork projects in the stimulus bill. The video has 1,732 comments expressing the opposite opinion.
Whenever people are well off, it is well known that politicians are corrupt, lying, untrustworthy people. Yet, we cling to them when the seas get rough. Have we forgotten? We cannot allow the fear of economic recession muddle our thoughts and disorient our perseptions.
